Star wars armada event

A couple of weeks ago I went down to wellington to participate in an Armada event. It was the usual 400pts 3 rounds swiss pairings. Although only 6 people could make it all 4 factions were still represented there was 2 Rebel, 2 Republic, 1 CIS, 1 Imperial fleets. I played vs the 2 Rebel and 1 Imperial fleet.

 My List

Providence Dreadnought (105)
• General Grievous (20)
• Local Fire Control (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (4)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Lucid Voice (8)
= 148 Points

Munificent Star Frigate (73)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Advanced Projectors (6)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 89 Points

Munificent Star Frigate (73)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Advanced Projectors (6)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 89 Points

Squadrons:
• 6 x Vulture Droid Fighter Squadron (48)
• 2 x Droid Tri-fighter Squadron (22)
= 70 Points

Total Points: 396

Game 1 vs an Agate list with a Starhawk, 2 MC30s and squads playing station assault.

I was defending but I advanced up too quick on my opponent who kill all my fighters first before firing on my ships. Meaning my Grievous ability never really triggered.

In the end I lost 1 station all my squadrons and one of my munificents. Resulting in a loss to me 199-80pts

My second game was also vs Rebels this time Ackbar leading 2 Assault frigates a Pelta and squadrons. This time around the mission was Fire lanes.

Both fleets moved in at a slow place sizing each other up. While the Squadrons went at it.

This game ended in a very narrow win for me 99-65pts. Both sides lost some squadrons and claimed some of the victory tokens. No one could quite finish off a ship.

The last game of the day was vs a Motti lead fleet with 2 ISD's and a Gladiator. and just 3 squads. The mission was once again fire lanes.

This game ended in a win for me. Killing an ISD some squads and claiming some of the victory tokens was enough to secure a 253-100pts win while only losing some squads.

A great days gaming with some new and familiar faces. I am quite happy with my 3rd placing I am quite often lagging at the back of the pack. I think having a regular opponent to play has helped my game a lot in remembering things and honing in my play style. I won some acrylic templates for my 3rd position.

Grevious and Obi wan square off again.

Today I had another Armada game this time with a new comer to Armada but not to Star wars as he plays Legion quite a bit. This was his 2nd game of Armada using the Republic and I was using the CIS with a lightly modified list to the last game I played.

The mission we played today was solar corona both fleets came to 399pts so we rolled off for first player.

Fleets set ready to engage

My two Munificent's on my left flank

Grievous flagship on the right with a fighter screen.

The Republic force keeping a tight formation. And keeping his battle tactics close to his chest.
The opposing forces size each other up and unleash the first volley of shots.

The two flagships go toe to toe. The Providence comes off second best limping away before the second Venator takes it out.

Meanwhile out of harms way the Consular cruiser is on a mercy mission. (40pts if it ends the game in my deployment zone)

The Acclamator takes the brunt of the Munificent's firepower. But not before it drops off its fighter screen to tie up my vulture droids.

The Consular watches on from a safe distance as the fight intensifies.

By now the second Venator is on its own on the left flank taking on two ships and squadrons heading right into a debris field. Which would ultimately finish it off.

The Republic flagship and Consular watch helplessly as the second Venator goes down to bring the game to an end on turn 6.

So in the end it was another will to the forces of the CIS but it was a very close game. Both Generals went down with their ships The CIS scored 232pts to the Republics 213pts. Just 19pts in it and the whole game was close it never looked one sided.

This served as a good test game for the event in two weeks time in Petone which we are both attending. Both of us seem to be happy with the list we used today so maybe be using them at the event,

I’m back

I haven’t posted in quite so time but now in this very different world we all seem to have a bit more time on our hands so here I am again. Until recently I’ve been quite busy with renovations after moving from the Hutt Valley in Wellington to the Friendly town of Feilding in the Manawatu.

Since moving up here I have got back into Dystopian wars as there is a reasonably good player base here. And I have also got into playing Star Wars Legion using the separatist droid armies. X-wing is something I haven’t played since I moved but a small group of players is trying to get a regular group playing. I am still playing Star Wars armada with a few new players up here they are quite quickly getting the hang of kicking my but. Bolt action is still in my gaming scene but haven’t played too much but hope to increase that.

My Brother has started a streaming channel on twitch and doing some videos on YouTube under the name of Phazon kiwi check him out. I will be linking his videos when I am able to.

Hopefully I will have some content to put up at least each fortnight.

We had 7 players in attendance 4 Playing relying on the might of the Imperial navy and 3 players mustering up the forces of the Rebel alliance. We had 3 games over the day all going without a problem. A good range of ships and admirals were in use from both sides and everyone had squadrons.

Plenty of fighter support here for the support ships.

Imperial civil war as Thomas and Brent slug it out.

Rebel in fighting Shane and Iain's fleets clash.

Michael and Mathew's ships broadside each other.

Ready for deployment.

The Rebel infighting continues.

My MC75 drops in from hyperspace just behind the enemy.

A big thank you to everyone who turned up and helps pack up at the end. I look forward to running the next one in the future.
