Star wars armada event

A couple of weeks ago I went down to wellington to participate in an Armada event. It was the usual 400pts 3 rounds swiss pairings. Although only 6 people could make it all 4 factions were still represented there was 2 Rebel, 2 Republic, 1 CIS, 1 Imperial fleets. I played vs the 2 Rebel and 1 Imperial fleet.

 My List

Providence Dreadnought (105)
• General Grievous (20)
• Local Fire Control (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (4)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Lucid Voice (8)
= 148 Points

Munificent Star Frigate (73)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Advanced Projectors (6)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 89 Points

Munificent Star Frigate (73)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Advanced Projectors (6)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
= 89 Points

Squadrons:
• 6 x Vulture Droid Fighter Squadron (48)
• 2 x Droid Tri-fighter Squadron (22)
= 70 Points

Total Points: 396

Game 1 vs an Agate list with a Starhawk, 2 MC30s and squads playing station assault.

I was defending but I advanced up too quick on my opponent who kill all my fighters first before firing on my ships. Meaning my Grievous ability never really triggered.

In the end I lost 1 station all my squadrons and one of my munificents. Resulting in a loss to me 199-80pts

My second game was also vs Rebels this time Ackbar leading 2 Assault frigates a Pelta and squadrons. This time around the mission was Fire lanes.

Both fleets moved in at a slow place sizing each other up. While the Squadrons went at it.

This game ended in a very narrow win for me 99-65pts. Both sides lost some squadrons and claimed some of the victory tokens. No one could quite finish off a ship.

The last game of the day was vs a Motti lead fleet with 2 ISD's and a Gladiator. and just 3 squads. The mission was once again fire lanes.

This game ended in a win for me. Killing an ISD some squads and claiming some of the victory tokens was enough to secure a 253-100pts win while only losing some squads.

A great days gaming with some new and familiar faces. I am quite happy with my 3rd placing I am quite often lagging at the back of the pack. I think having a regular opponent to play has helped my game a lot in remembering things and honing in my play style. I won some acrylic templates for my 3rd position.

Star wars legion at Panzerscreck

A number of years ago at Panzerschreck I would of been playing the Flames of war doubles event. But since the move to version 4 I haven't liked it at all so with Star wars legion being on offer I attended that instead.

Unlike most war games I play im trying to limit myself to just one army. In this case is the droid armies of the CIS. I went for a gun line style army this time around with some speedy Staps as my mobile part of the force.

There was only 6 of us playing as a lot of the usual Legion players couldn't make the trip up to Palmerston north. A few of the ones up here were on duty in the Army and Airforce so couldn't attend either.

There was 3 Rebel armies, 2 Droid armies, and one Imperial force. Here are some pics of the days gaming of which I played 3 games vs 3 Rebel players.

Game 1 vs Rebels ended in a narrow loss for me.

Staps racing down the flank to harass the enemies rear lines.

The muscles of my outfit. (This tank is why I choose the droid army)

2nd game on the same table vs Rebels ended in a heavy defeat for me.

Jyn Erso laying down the law on my Staps.

My worker droid picking up the pieces trying to keep the squad running.

3rd game vs Rebels also this one ended in a win for me.

This time I wasn't the only one with vehicles.

Rebel troopers pinned down by my AAT and Staps.

Even Luke couldn't stand up to that much fire power.

A few Staps make it through to the enemies rear lines to pull their attention away from the battle.

A great days gaming had by all involved I finished 4th and you might think thats not bad but there was only 6 people lol. The following weekend I went to Wellington for an Armada event and I hope to have that up in a few days. Again I was running a CIS force and ill fill you in on that soon.

We had 3 games over the day all going without a problem. A good range of ships and admirals were in use from both sides and everyone had squadrons.

Plenty of fighter support here for the support ships.

Imperial civil war as Thomas and Brent slug it out.

Rebel in fighting Shane and Iain's fleets clash.

Michael and Mathew's ships broadside each other.

Ready for deployment.

The Rebel infighting continues.

My MC75 drops in from hyperspace just behind the enemy.

Panzerschreck 2018 Bolt Action

After missing Panzerschreck last year due to Flames of war moving onto V4 rules which I haven't liked, Panzerschreck this year had Bolt action on offer. It was 1000pts single reinforced platoon armies I finally had a chance to use my Soviets for the first time but more importantly my T-35.

Just 5 days out from the event the organizer and his 2ic helping him pulled out dew to personal reasons and the event was to be scrubbed. Not having ever ran an event I decided to take on the running of the event. With two people now pulled out that left just 6 of us so this seemed like a good chance to see how running a tournament was. As the person running Flames of war side of the event had already organized the hall and other bits all I had to do was sort prizes for our small comp.

Some laser cut trophies had already been done for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, best painted and best sport. I would like to thank Scott Bowman who runs the Paraparaumu Beach pharmacy. He was kind enough to give some prize support for our little comp. So I gave him the honor of choosing the best painted army. I Also want to thank my brother Shane for the use of his 3D printer so I could make some bolt action blast templates with Panzerschreck 2018 on them.

As there was only 6 of us we played 5 games. Each player played each other once there was 3 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

Game 1 - No mans land.
Game 2 - Key positions.
Game 3 - Meeting engagement.
Game 4 - Sectors.
Game 5 - Demolition.

There was a good mix of armies being used

Myself - Early war soviets - ( Hordes of SMG infantry and a T-35 )
Craig - US Airborne - ( With no armor but lots of AT )
Mark - Early war Finns - ( Sissi ski troops, Vickers 6 ton and BA10 )
Warren - Late war US - ( M26 Pershing and vet Paratroopers  )
Ken - Japanese - ( Lots of infantry)
Andrew - Winter Germans - ( Nasty nebelwerfer and Panther )

Games in progress.
Warren and Craig fighting over the V2 facility.
Warren and Andrews heavy armor clash.
Mark and Ken thinking over their next moves.
Warrens forces adopt a defensive posture.
My 45mm At gun is in a bit of trouble.
Hello say hello to my mass machine gun fire.
The Japanese ready to launch their banzai attack.
Try as he might the Bazookas eventually got the panther.
Airborne troops fight in the rail yard.
The Finns massed armor. ( If you can call it that ).
3inch At gun in over watch.
M26 Pershing looking for trouble.
The two horde armies face off Japs and Russians.
Finnish Artillery controlling the open ground.
Snipers take the high ground.
Charge!!!
Fire again !!!
Recon in force.

Everyone had a great weekend even though it was a small field of players. Everyone said they would be keen for next year and with a bit more time I should be able to get more people entered.

1st - Andrew
2nd - Mark
3rd - Warren
Best painted - Andrew
Best Sport - Ken

I look forward to running another event it was a fun and different experience and very satisfying to of pulled it together in short time.
